Five Things to Consider Before Being Tattooed on Spring Break

Spring Break Tattoos

Spring Break is a time to let loose and have some fun so it’s no wonder that many people end up being tattooed for their first – or 20th – time during Spring Break. You can literally go to Mexico and have a tattoo done just as easily as you could buy candy off the street It may be the right choice for you at the moment, but before you make up your mind try to consider these five thoughts.

Can you find a tattoo parlor you trust?

There are tattoo artists all over the country – and the world – so no matter where you’re going, you’ll be able to find someone willing to ink you. Their willingness is not the only thing you’ll need to consider, though. Before deciding on a tattoo shop be sure that:

  • The artist wears gloves.
  • They sterilize their equipment.
  • They open a brand new needle in front of you.
  • The ink used on you is not diluted with anything except sterile water.
  • They are approved and/or registered by their local jurisdiction.
  • They only use ink made specifically for tattoos.
  • Hygienic practices are followed in the shop.

Are you sure that’s where you want it?

Being impulsive and spontaneous is fun, but not when it means going home with a tattoo in the wrong spot. For example, you don’t want to come home from Spring Break with a tattoo covering your hand (or face) if you work in an industry – or plan to work in an industry – in which visible tattoos may reduce the number of opportunities available to you.

Are you sure that’s what you want?

As a general rule of thumb, if you have to try to come up with the idea for the tattoo on the spot, then it’s probably not a good idea. A wise person once said that anytime you decide what you want inked on your body you should have it drawn and then wait a year. If you still want it, then you can reasonably assume you’ll like it another year later.

Are you drunk?

It’s no secret that Spring Break and drinking go hand in hand (no shame in that)!. Too often people think they need a little booze to have the courage for their tattoo appointment. The truth is that being drunk can not only result in making an impulsive decision you’ll regret, but it can also thin the blood which leads to more bleeding and more pain. We suggest you wait until you sober up. A great tattooist will refrain from tattooing you if you’re drunk!

Are you 100% sure?

When your friends want tattoos and you want to go along with them, it can be easy to be swept up in the moment. If you have doubts, then it’s better to wait. You can always be tattooed a week, a month, or a year from now. Wait until you’re sure and you’ll be glad you did.

When You’re Sure You’ve Made a Mistake

Of course, even with the best advice, sometimes people still end up regretting their tattoos. We often hear “it just didn’t turn out the way I expected it to look.” If you’re wishing you’d read this list before you had your last design inked, contact Delete Tattoo Removal and let us remove your unwanted tattoo – safely and comfortably.
