About Our Lasers
Our laser tattoo removal treatments begin using the best industry-respected laser options. The PicoWay® by Syneron Candela, the world’s first and only dual laser that pulsates with higher levels of comfort, compared to other lasers. PicoWay delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses of energy to the tissue. These bursts of energy create a photo-mechanical impact, breaking up the tattoo ink or pigmentation into smaller, more easily eliminated particles.
PicoWay can delete the most intricate tattoo ink on a variety of skin tones and pigments. New in 2017, our tattoo removal salon is the only salon in the state of Arizona with access to PicoWay’s 785 nm wavelength. For our patients, this means blues, greens and purples are easier to remove.
We also safely and comfortably treat freckles, age spots, Nevus of Ota (blue facial birthmarks), Café au lait spots and birthmarks.
Questions About Tattoo Removal
When contemplating tattoo removal, you are bound to have questions. Tattoo removal is a medical procedure with severe implications for your body; you will want to make sure you have all the relevant information. ― Here are a few common questions our patients ask, along with the answers.
Every procedure begins with a brief 20-minute consultation where a trained laser technician evaluates your tattoo, your general level of health, and what the process of removing your tattoo will look like.
Professionally created tattoos typically take 8 – 12 sessions, while those tattooed by an amateur may be removed in 3 – 6 treatments.
The exact number of sessions needed depends on where on your body the tattoo is located, the colors used, depth of ink, and other specific health factors that our physician will discuss with you more thoroughly.
Tattoo removal can be quite painful and sometimes tattoo ink can make you sick; you will want to choose a practitioner who uses the most modern equipment available and is board certified. Our PicoWay pico-second laser is more comfortable than older Q-switched technologies.
It leaves less of a “heat footprint”. It also destroys the ink photo-acoustically, which means far fewer complications are required compared to other lasers.
At Delete, our trained laser technicians offer the option of local anesthesia or topical anesthesia to minimize pain.
More than 90+% of our patients opt for injectable lidocaine, which requires an appropriately credentialed medical professional. Tattoo removal has become increasingly popular over the years because of our ability to manage the pain associated with the process.
Scarring is a common misconception about the tattoo removal process. Many people believe they are doomed to live with their tattoo or a scar in the shape of their tattoo. The truth is that an experienced practitioner working with a modern, properly calibrated PicoWay laser will typically leave behind no scarring.
Most tattoo scarring is caused by the original artist depositing the ink too deep into the skin. Technology has evolved, and there are a number of ways to minimize and erase scars. Check out our “Before & After” photos so you can see the amazing results achieved at Delete.
Sometimes you love the image in a tattoo but hate the text that goes with it. Maybe you want the colors faded, so the tattoo is less noticeable, or wish to remove part of an image to make room for new body art.
This is easy! Modern technology like the PicoWay laser can accomplish these precise goals. Our trained laser technicians use the laser to target only the ink, leaving the skin unharmed.
When you get a tattoo, the needle used by the artist injects ink deep into the skin to create the design you want. Over time, your body will start to naturally break down and dispose of the ink, which is why the art fades over time. Medical grade, cosmetic lasers are used to remove tattoos, and accelerates this process. The light from the laser breaks down the ink at a deep level, allowing the body to naturally carry it away.
Laser removal is the most common and safest method of removing a tattoo. However, there are other available options―most of which are more invasive and riskier of infection and/or scarring. Surgical removal involves cutting away the tattoo and stitching the skin back together. Therefore, it leaves a scar and is typically only an option for small-sized tattoos.
Dermabrasion, otherwise known as the sanding down of the skin, is another possible method of removal. However, dermabrasion leaves the skin raw and sore for at least two to three weeks.
Even if the procedure is flawless, the results are typically scarred. This may only work for very superficial and amateur tattoos. As dermabrasion is often ineffective, this procedure is never really the best choice for removing a tattoo.
While you may see offers online or in the drugstore for over-the-counter creams that supposedly remove tattoos, these are generally ineffective as well. Claiming “FDA Approved” does not mean that it is “FDA Approved“ to remove tattoos.
If there were a topical solution available that worked, we would embrace it! While these topical solutions may slightly fade the colors, they will not remove the image altogether. You can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on tattoo removal creams, and still not achieve the results you want.
